This is the story of a man whose love affair with Jodhpur began the day he was born.

I visited Jodhpur with a bunch of travel photographers to cover the festival of Holi in the Blue City and captured tonnes of happy memories which I can’t wait to share with you.

THE ARRIVAL

After an excruciatingly long 12-hour train journey from New Delhi, we arrived at our destination. At first Jodhpur felt like any other small city in India where life starts at six in the morning and wraps up early in the evening, but man was I in for a surprise.

Our stay was booked at the luxurious Kuchaman Haveli hotel. Since we had a long day planned ahead, we retired for the night shortly after arrival.

THE MEHRANGARH FORT

We started the day with a light breakfast of omelette, bread, and coffee before being escorted to the main hall of the Haveli where each one of us was given a traditional Rajasthani welcome. A local was called in to tie Rajasthani safas (turbans) for us. The speed with which he tied them up was incredible. Feeling like a king with the turban, I quickly flipped out my phone and took a selfie.

Fun Fact: According to the safa maker, there are more than five tribes in Rajasthan and each tribe has a different way of making their turbans. This helps in distinguishing each tribe and creats a unique identity of their own.
