An investor and collector turns his attention to conservation.

“Dude ranch” is not the phrase one would expect to come out of George Lindemann’s mouth when he explains what prompted a life-changing epiphany. After all, this is the Miami art collector and president of the Bass Museum who co-hosted an Art Basel bash headlined by Fischerspooner and who buys furnishings by Claude and François-Xavier Lalanne and Wendell Castle as if they were cashmere sweaters from Bergdorf ’s. He lives in a pink house. Yet there he was, at the Lazy E-L Guest Ranch in Roscoe,Montana, having the time of his life.

“It was so much fun, and it always stuck with me,” says Lindemann, who was inspired when he returned from the trip to break out a compass and a topographical map of the U.S. “I drew a straight line from Miami to the nearest mountains.”
