In almost every episode, the character Barney Stinson, who is supposed to be lovable, can be found at a bar, getting girls drunk, lying about his identity, and bringing them back to his place. Afterward, he brags about his exploits to his friends. If a girl is intoxicated and can&rsquo;t give consent, that means we may have been yukking it up at, well, rape. And when 13-year-old boys (or 10-year-olds or&nbsp;21-year olds) see this, they think it&rsquo;s okay&mdash;in fact,&nbsp;freakin&rsquo; hilarious!&mdash;to behave like Barney. And perhaps even worse, girls may think it&rsquo;s okay too.The repercussions of the media&rsquo;s influence are real. In high school, you hear stories about guys waiting until girls get blackout drunk and then hooking up with them in closets&mdash;and those mouth breathers are proud of it. And if it&nbsp;didn&rsquo;t really happen, they&rsquo;ll lie about it. The reason my friends and I&nbsp;didn&rsquo;t call out the boys in sixth grade is&nbsp;because if&nbsp;a girl speaks up, the impression&nbsp;isn&rsquo;t that she&rsquo;s strong or charismatic or a leader&mdash;it&rsquo;s that she&rsquo;s a bitch. If I had said, &lsquo;Stop ranking us like we&rsquo;re Pokemon&rsquo; when I was 11, I would have been called a weirdo. But I wish I had said that.
