Be prepared

“Make two decisions before you get to the store: your budget and your favorite color,” says Monte. On your shopping trip, bring along shoes that are similar to what you’ll want for prom night, and take some underwear options too. A strapless bra is always a good idea.

Don’t be afraid to experiment

“Your attitude should be, I’m going to be open to trying on everything,” he says. So you don’t get overwhelmed, plan on taking three to five dresses into the fitting room at a time, he says.
