Shuchita Sancheti’s home décor brand vVyom offers a striking range of products that find their origins in her hand painted artworks

Limitless Possibilities

When did you discover you had artistic leanings?

SS: As a child, I had the zeal to keep creating. I used to visit my father’s textile unit where fabrics were printed in dazzling prints and scintillating colors. I would sit in front of him for hours, mesmerized by his shade card with its thousands of hues and shades. This was my first introduction to the world of colors, and I was captivated by them.

While growing up, I discovered the world of art, and began to question existing perceptions. How do colors affect us consciously and subconsciously? Why do we like a particular color? Is it because it makes us happy? Or is it because it reminds us of the past? Such thoughts flooded my mind. My early life inculcated a fascination for making art. Even today, I resort to painting or doodling as a meditative escape - painting takes me to my happy place. I paint in my mini everyday sketchbook, as well as big life size canvases. I call myself a ‘small human with big paintings’.

What led to the launch of your home décor brand?

SS: A self-taught artist, I graduated from Parsons the New School for Design New York in 2017 (BFA Interior Design) with an honors award for design work across Interiors, Architecture, Lighting and Product in the School of Constructed Environment.
