I bought this Chevrolet from someone in George approximately 10 years ago and paid R5000.00 for it. The project took me 5 and a half years to complete due to the body being badly damaged and doing all of the restoration work myself after hours.

The Chevy had a dickey seat which did not work so we replaced the entire seat mechanism. I replaced the old suspension with a Jag XJ6 back and front. The body came with no engine so I bought a Studebaker Daytona V8 and rebuilt it from scratch. As I am a petrol and diesel mechanic, I have the skills required to complete all the necessary conversions. The gearbox is a 4 speed with an electronic overdrive.

The vehicle has minimal interior apart from the 2 racing seats that I reupholstered with black material. I felt that since it is a Hot Rod, I could get away with the bare minimum. This year I was afforded the opportunity to enter the Old George Car Show and will be attending next year as well.

My family and I take the car on Sunday drives into town and the kids love sitting in the dickey seat. We don’t drive it in winter as there are no windows and the wife complains about the cold weather, however, once again, it is a Hot Rod and therefore I often get away with it!

The vehicle has been booked out for Weddings, Matric Farewells and the odd 21st birthday.
