Meet The Showstoppers!
Filmfare|February 22, 2017

Devesh Sharma Brings a Bird’s Eye View of the Glory and the Glamour Behind the 62nd Jio Filmfare Awards 2017.

Meet The Showstoppers!

IT WAS EXCITEMENT as usual at the gates, what with the guests standing in a serpentine queue well before we started. The security had a hell of a time reigning in eager gawkers. The fans were going berserk clicking photos of the stars and we had to be extra vigilant to prevent any untoward incident from occurring. The man of the moment, Sushant Singh Rajput, got the most raucous reaction this year as he stepped out of his car, thanks to his portrayal of captain courageous, Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Rajput recalled being part of Filmfare Awards as a background dancer in 2006 and said he was excited to be nominated. He was also performing this time and his double act with Jacqueline Fernandez met with a thunderous applause. Shatrughan Sinha’s entry too had the crowd in raptures and our Lifetime Achievement Award winner obliged everyone big and small with selfies and autographs. All the girls, be it Sonam Kapoor, Parineeti Chopra, Swara Bhaskara or Jacqueline were all trailing huge gown tails and we had to make sure no one stepped on them amidst the melee. Kalki Koechlin did get hers stepped upon but her manager came well-prepared with safety pins and made sure the damage was controlled...

The show started off in a grand style, what with the King of the Hindi film industry, Shah Rukh Khan, our chief host of the evening, entering the stage in style supported by some deft wire-work. The actor performed to the song Zaalima from Raees and was met with cries of encore. SRK congratulated Shahid Kapoor and his wife Mira Rajput and Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan who turned proud parents last year.
