Each of us has a digital footprint as it were today, whether or not we choose to let ‘digitalese’ marry our very subconscious mind and make artists of us. Anyone sharing photos on social media employing mobile-phone apps to touch up photos, filter and colour them, is a digital artist of sorts. Certain hobbyists are actually creating art on their androids – and showing the world that a utility device can double up as a canvas. Even a child who knows how to ‘design’ with a stylus on a digital device, and is making artful doodles on his blank tablet, is an artist at work! These days, watching even six-month old infants ‘swiping’ photos away on their parents’ mobile phones, while still in their prams, proves that babies today are born techno-enabled. Every photo they smile for and smile at, completes a full circle of generating digital content and consuming it. There must be a new gene embedded in their over-developed brains, which scientists will soon declare!
