Akanksha Mirchandani Went From Being a Regular, Mumbai City-girl to Assisting Kathy Hilton and Designing Some of L.a.’s Most Lavish Soirees: Living the Dream. Now, She’s Shares the Tales of Her Success With Devanshi Kapadia
Born and raised in Mumbai, Akanksha Mirchandani moved to Los Angeles at the somewhat impressionable age of nineteen. “Although I was already 19 when I moved, I believe I truly grew up in L.A,” she says.
When Akanksha first left India, she thought L.A would be a 2-year vacation with the perfect weather! Little did she know, the city of angels had other plans for her. “I had no idea how much this city was going to teach me about my ambitions and about myself.”
At a young age, Akanksha recognized the creative streak in her and pursued a degree in the fine arts. The fashion world, to the teenager, seemed too pretentious. And yet, ironically, a lot of her professors didn’t think she fit the mould of starving artist. Fitting into a box wasn’t her cup of tea, so dejected, she left for L.A to visit her brother, who was studying there at the time. As she explored the city, she instantly fell in love with the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) campus, decided to pack her bags and move to L.A.
