Rahul Jagtiani Is the Founder of Plush Plaza, Plush Places, and Host of the Plush Places Web Show. Devanshi Kapadia, Talks to Him About His Many Hats and the Passion That Drives Him to Keep Going
Rahul Jagtiani is more than the textbook definition of entrepreneur. He embodies the entrepreneurial spirit, by steering between opportunity and passion to manage, one after the other, successful ventures. His accomplishments derive from satisfying his creativity, while keeping a keen eye on current markets and economic trends.
A true Bombay boy, Rahul graduated from high school at Bombay Scottish. Then, he went on to pursue his undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech. Here, he graduated with a double major in MIS (Management Information Systems) and Marketing. Upon return to Mumbai, he joined the family business, working in the interiors space, but he always had that itch - Rahul wanted to start something of his own.
“The home décor space was a natural transition for me. I launched Plush Plaza as an e-commerce website, selling home accessories,” says Rahul. Plush Plaza first launched in 2010, a time when e-commerce platforms were relatively new in India.
Soon enough, the industry hit a major growth spurt. Within a few months of launch, a couple of the Plush Plaza products really clicked with the gifting market. “In no time, we started selling large volumes in the B2B space.” Plush Plaza then pivoted and has become a corporate gifting company, catering to clients across India, and a few overseas.
