After 35 years in the Dental industry, Mahesh Lalwani has built a prosperous international repute. he speaks to The Sindhian about his endeavor to brighten smiles across the world
As the young son of a banker, Mahesh Lalwani travelled around the world due to his father’s constant transfers. Today, as a renowned dentist, loving husband, and proud father, he enjoys travelling even more. Based in Mumbai, this veteran has been practicing dentistry for 35 years now and is globally acknowledged for his professional achievements.
His career began with a strong academic foundation. After early schooling in Singapore and South Africa, Mahesh came to India in 1965. He acquired a Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree in 1979, began practicing from home in 1981, obtained a Master of Dental Surgery degree in 1982, and invested in his own clinic in 1985. Since then, the staff, space and services have expanded, and Mahesh’s reputation has flourished.
Dentistry wasn’t always part of the plan, but medicine was. “Art has always come naturally to me, of which medicine is a huge part. The metamorphosis to dentistry was only natural, considering that it is a science and an art. To an extent, dentistry is about aesthetics,” explains Mahesh, who is a member of the Indian Dental Association and Indian Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathologists.
