AITOR Karanka has warned his raw NottinghamForest youngsters that they will need to improve quickly as he targets new signings in the January transfer window.
Karanka’s first match in the Forest dugout was ruined by Scott Hogan’s 18th-minute near post header which pushed classy Villa up to fourth in the table after a third straight league win without conceding.
The former Middlesbrough manager, who joined Forest this week, admitted his side were second-best for 90 minutes despite coming into the match on the back of a rousing 4-2 FA Cup victory over Arsenal.
Karanka said: “The players came from the Arsenal game but this was completely different. The atmosphere was completely different.
“They need to improve. They need to know football is not easy. It’s not like the Arsenal game – it’s more like this. They will be more mature playing these games. We need to be more aggressive, more intense.
