Twinkle Khanna and Her Miscellaneous Happy Things
VOGUE India|March 2018

Her words flow unbridled on paper but she is a bit more measured in person. She grudgingly tells us how life and its various commitments have her utterly satiated. Vanilla, yoga and the thought of speaking French are among Twinkle Khanna’s miscellaneous happy things.

Aditi Bhimjyani
Twinkle Khanna and Her Miscellaneous Happy Things

There’s an unbearable lightness of being to Twinkle Khanna. She could be sitting right in front of you, looking deadpan as she sips tea and critiques a complex Houdini-level dress chosen for her by a stylist. But her mind is always running in circles. She insists she’s tough to crack, that she hides behind her jokes. No one knows if she believes in love or God, ghosts or religion. She wears her many hats effortlessly—former actor, decorator, star wife, mother, popular columnist, story writer and now the face of an international beauty brand. Her film-star husband tries to sit in on her interview. He says her life is a lot more glamorous than his. Vanities apart, there’s no denying that.

ON WHAT HAPPINESS MEANS TO HER

“Freedom,” she replies in a second. “To do things as I want, to not dance to anyone’s tunes.” Just for this, her husband points to her haughtily and says he wants her ready at 8pm sharp. She shoos him off right away.

ON HER GREEN SPACE

“I love having that little patch of green grass to call my own.” That’s where she does her yoga every day. She’s a bit of a gardener, a proverbial green thumb.
