Points To Prove

HAVING secured qualification to the group stages of the UEFA Europa League, Celtic’s next target is to emerge from Group E and deliver European football after Christmas for the third year in a row.

The Hoops are in a group with Lazio, Rennes and CFR Cruj, and got their campaign off to a good start with a 1-1 draw in France on matchday one.

Now they face Cluj this Thursday night at Paradise, and having suffered defeat when the sides met earlier this season, there is determination with the Celtic camp to make amends this time around.

Speaking ahead of the game, Scott Brown said: “We want to progress in this competition as it’s important for us to be involved in Europe after Christmas. We’ve had a sniff of it in the last couple of seasons and we want that to continue.

“We’ve got off to a good start, picking up a point against a Rennes team who’d beaten PSG and Arsenal in recent times, so we will be full of confidence.
