More often than not, an artist and her art is defined by the country and the culture she belongs to. Everywhere and everything else is usually an inspiration. But, here’s the story of an artist who believes in such beliefs. For the past six years, residing in the former Jinnah House on APJ Abdul Kalam Azad Road in Delhi is Eleni Stoelinga Tsiapara. In fact, it is reported that the final decision on partition was arrived upon within the wood panelled library of these very premises. And yet, Eleni is an ambassador of art without borders. Born in Athens, Greece in 1947, the year we declared ourselves independent, it is perhaps one of the greatest of ironies that the year as well as the place bears witness to something so diametrically opposite.
