Nature Is My Canvas!
Can you tell us about yourself, starting from the beginning of your photographic journey and your achievements so far?
My first brush with photography was in 1994 when I did not even have a camera for myself. I had this urge to have photos taken in candlelight in a Christmas setting. So I gathered some of my friends and hired a professional photographer from a studio to take photos as I visualised.
It was rewarding and a good learning experience. For the first time, I visualised the scene and had something created. It felt good!
In all honesty, my photography journey is, without a doubt, the result of my fascination with paintings. I always felt inspired by classical paintings, especially from the renaissance era. I tried my hand at painting, but lacked the talent or patience required and eventually gave up. So, I bought a point-and-shoot camera to see if there was a way to photograph my imaginations instead of painting. And I realised from the efforts that I had a flair in this medium. I pursued it with vigour and dedication. At last I found a medium to express myself. This was in 2005 and that is how I set sail on this journey. To my delight, I did manage to appeal to the viewers with my peculiar genre of photography.
Frankly, accolades are secondary and don’t interest me much. But it is safe to say that over the years, I have had my images adorn the covers of novels, CDs and magazines. The challenge in art photography is to keep re-inventing and better yourself with each new work which has been my constant focus.
