The power dynamic between Bill and his younger partner, Dawn (Powley), delivers a particular punch after the rise of the #MeToo&nbsp;movement. &ldquo;It&rsquo;s incredibly prescient that Kenny wrote such a thematically strong piece so long ago, given what&rsquo;s happened in the past year,&rdquo; Evans says. &ldquo;Bill certainly represents the patriarchy. Bill represents misogyny. Bill represents all the negative things that have a bit of a choke hold these days.&rdquo; If some of Evans&rsquo; past characters have exemplified what a man should be, Bill is a far more insidious look at masculinity.Lobby Hero may mark a thematic departure for Evans, but it&rsquo;s also a return to his roots: Long before he stepped on a movie set, he was a&nbsp;card&nbsp;carrying&nbsp;theater nerd, starring in school musicals and attending acting camps. He and his three siblings all performed in youth theater, so he grew up in a home with Broadway musicals like Sweeney Todd and Once on This Island always on loop. As a teenager, Evans decided that film was his end goal, but being on stage again has stirred up a few memories of tech weeks and high school rehearsals. &ldquo;It&rsquo;s a world away from Broadway theater when you&rsquo;re doing community theater outside of Boston, but the process is similar,&rdquo; he says with a laugh.As for what&rsquo;s next when Evans exits the Lobby? That remains to be seen. Captain America&rsquo;s future is up in the air, depending on what goes down in the next two Avengers movies (the first, Infinity War, is out April 27), and Evans is eager to try directing again after&nbsp;helming&nbsp;2015&rsquo;s Before We Go. But more than anything, he says, he&rsquo;s looking forward to exploring his other interests and maybe scaling back his film projects. &ldquo;Even if it&rsquo;s just picking up a new hobby, like painting or the harmonica or something that has nothing to do with my work, I feel kind of recharged in a way,&rdquo; he says. &ldquo;So I could see myself maybe taking my foot off the gas a little bit and just letting the wind take me whichever way it blows.&rdquo; It&rsquo;s a lesson in spontaneity that he&rsquo;s learning from his time on stage. &ldquo;If you plan anything in the theater, I&rsquo;ve found that&nbsp;it almost dies a certain type of death,&rdquo; he says, laughing. &ldquo;It&rsquo;s at once terrifying, but it&rsquo;s also liberating.&rdquo; And no one knows freedom like Captain America.
