The Pop Legends—who Will Hit The Road This Summer On A Joint Tour—talk First Impressions, Private Jets And Rock Star Parenting
In her 35-year career, Cyndi Lauper has won Grammys, an Emmy and a Tony, but the pop star is still crossing items off her bucket list. Next up? Hitting the road again with Rod Stewart. “I’m a fan!” says Lauper, 64, who will open for the ’70s heartthrob, 73, this summer on their second joint tour after touring together last year as well. Why the repeat performance? “He’s just one of the great rock and roll singers,” Lauper says. Together the pair opened up to People about fame, friendship, family and their wild ’80s style.
The first time you performed together was actually back in 1985 at an AIDS benefit.
LAUPER What did we sing? I can’t remember.
STEWART Who cares? I know you didn’t like my suit! It was electric blue. You said it was too loud.
LAUPER I didn’t think it was rock and roll. I said that to him. He was sad.
