Now Starring In I Feel Pretty, The Actress Is Having A Blast As The New Mom-Next-Door Queen Of Social Media

Busy Philipps has been a working actress for 20 years—but it’s Instagram that made her a superstar. She realized just how much her funny, candid posts have changed her life on a recent family trip to Charleston, S.C. “People were stopping their cars in the middle of the street and yelling, ‘I need to take a picture of you,’” says the actress, 38. “I felt like, ‘Oh my God, I’m Selena Gomez!’” She was also shocked to hear from some famous superfans. “Miley Cyrus just told me is obsessed with my Instagram,” she says, “and Julia Roberts is too. It’s so wild!”

No one is more surprised by her new level of fame than Philipps herself. “There are people now who just know me from Instagram,” she says. Yes, she has a steady Hollywood career: She starred on TV’s Freaks and Geeks, Dawson’s Creek and Cougar Town, and appears with her longtime best friend Michelle Williams and Amy Schumer in the movie I Feel Pretty, out April 20. But Philipps has also struck a chord with women around the world with her confessional Instagram Stories. One day she’s crying over losing her daughters’ teddy bears during a family vacation in Hawaii, another she’s laughing uncontrollably when she comes home a little tipsy after the Golden Globes only to discover she’s been locked out of her house.
