Maybe, but only temporarily. The theory is that massage can make skin appear smoother by loosening up the connective tissue bands under the skin. (Fat pushing against that connective tissue causes those familiar dimples.) But really, massage and foam rolling probably reduce the look of cellulite simply by increasing blood flow and making skin more plumped up. I wouldn’t expect the effect to last beyond a day. Same goes for special massage tools designed to target connective tissue and blast cellulite: They may work for a short time, but you’ll have to keep using them if you want to maintain smooth skin.

There are cosmetic procedures that reduce the appearance of cellulite for anywhere from a few months to a couple of years, but they’re not permanent fixes either. And some of these treatments can cost thousands of dollars and may cause more discomfort than they’re worth. For a quick fix, try foam rolling or, better yet, just don’t stress over a few dimples and bumps. Even the fittest and slimmest women have cellulite—you’re in good company!

Is it safe to get vaccines when you’re pregnant?

Certain vaccines are actually recommended during pregnancy: the Tdap vaccine (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis), which helps protect against whooping cough, as well as the flu shot. You can get the flu shot during any trimester or before pregnancy, depending on whether it’s flu season when you’re expecting. Experts generally recommend that pregnant women get the Tdap between the 27- and 36-week marks. Any friends and family members who will spend time around your newborn should get these vaccines, too.
