So much emphasis is placed on performance and technique, but feeling comfortable and confident in what you&rsquo;re wearing is important as well.My personal style has become one of my favorite ways to express myself. I like to be a little daring. I generally gravitate toward traditional silhouettes with a twist, and I like to think outside the box when it comes to what I wear out on the course (while always abiding by each course&rsquo;s individual dress code).My style started to develop when I was growing up and had more limited means for buying new outfits. I had to get creative with what I already had. I had fun pulling different shirts, skirts and leggings from my closet, and seeing how they would fit in with my traditional golf wear. What I discovered was that not only did I feel more confident, I was also more comfortable! Going out to play suddenly became even more enjoyable.My experiences with developing and owning my personal golf style have made me an outspoken advocate for more progressive dress codes, both in the game&rsquo;s formal rules as well as in unspoken, socially driven rules. I know how much more I started to love the game when I felt like I could be myself&mdash; instead of feeling like I was putting on a costume&mdash;and I believe that fashion and perception does have a big impact on getting others into the game.Hopefully, as we continue to move into golf &rsquo;s future, we can find a way to honor the tradition of the sport while still being able to change with the times.
