Has the advance of the smartphone camera overtaken the digital camera as a standalone product?

I’m in my first year of university where I’m studying business and data analytics, and I’ve recently started doing a few part-time jobs in my free time. I recently started event modelling and I’ve appeared in a commercial video, but that was just to help out a friend. You can find my Instagram profile @amandaatan_

I’m relatively new to cameras and the pictures I post up on Instagram are usually taken by friends. I’ve tried using my iPhone to capture vlogs of my trips overseas but it is more for my own fun than to attract likes on Instagram. I do think that using a proper camera is much better than using a smartphone, and no matter how much smartphones get their camera sensors upgraded a digital camera is still the best to capture high quality images, but as I don’t really need to use a camera I haven’t invested in one - I usually borrow a compact camera when I go on vacation with family and friends.

Am I camera shy? I guess that depends on the situation and I’m ok making video calls to my friends. When you take selfies everyday and post them online you see yourself and you’re quite comfortable with what you look like, but as this is the first photoshoot I’ve attended I do feel a bit self-conscious about my looks with ‘strangers’ around. I guess its because this is the first time a professional makeup artist and stylist has ‘directed’ how I look!
