Interview With Charity Walter
Southern Sass|January 01,2017

In a culture where sex sells, Charity Walter thinks differently. At the age of 16, she started her company, Dainty Jewell’s, a fashionably modest clothing line that women and girls look and feel great in and enjoy wearing. The high demand for Dainty Jewell’s outfits expanded the one-seamstress production to a thriving business of more than ten employees, the production of 80,000 pieces of clothing to date and the building of a 6,000 square foot warehouse.

Interview With Charity Walter

Inspired by fashion from the 1930s-1960s, Dainty Jewell’s carries several styles of clothing made of luxurious fabrics with feminine details, such as lace, ruffles and bows. The fashion line features women’s dresses, skirts, tops, modest swimwear and bridesmaid dresses. They also carry a full boutique of little girls’ modest clothing.

Tell us a little about yourself, your brand and what you do.

My name is Charity Walter and I’m a modern southern belle originally from North Carolina. The name of my company, Dainty Jewell’s, derives from my middle name, Jewell. I was named after my great-grandmother who ran an upscale women’s boutique in the early 1900s in Mississippi.

I began designing at the age of 16 with the intent of upcycling and creating unique pieces with custom embellishments, dainty details and decorative confections. After receiving positive feedback from my friends and family, the idea of creating my own company was born.

At Dainty Jewell’s, we are dedicated to providing affordable, modest clothing to women of all ages and sizes. We believe dressing modestly is more than a fashion statement and dressing with ladylike class is a privilege all women should have access to. Outside of my business I try to incorporate my creativity into every part of my personal life, from designing my own wedding gown to decorating my new home in Oregon, and through playing the piano.
