India's Manufacturing Push Draws Dassault Systèmes Expertise

The central government’s big push to the local manufacturing sector is garnering global attention. While India is being viewed as a lucrative market by many global multinationals in lieu of the major reforms including GST, industrial corridors, manufacturing hubs, smart cities and the thrust on infrastructure, several software simulation companies are flocking the local market, offering assistance in design and manufacturing processes.

The push to locally produce consumer and B2B goods is not only encouraging vehicle manufacturers but also the ancillary industry that includes Tier 1, 2 and 3 suppliers across segments. This trend is seen across the automotive, construction equipment, heavy machinery and capital goods, defence, aerospace and other sectors.

As per a Dassault Systèmes' document, “In the aerospace and defense sector, global companies are procuring heavily from local Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers, while in the automotive sector, domestic manufacturers are expanding their capacity and footprint to new states, and global players are exploring joint ventures and greenfield projects. India as a hub for quality manufacturing activities in product design, R&D and assembling is evolving and has the potential to reach US$ 1 trillion by 2025.”

In order to take discussions forward on the same, the 3 billion euro 3D design software company, which claims its expertise in the 3D digital mock-up and product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions, organised its first 'Manufacturing in the Age of Experience' event in India in Pune on June 8-9.
