The Only Watch You Need
The PEAK Malaysia|September 2019
With the eighth edition of the biennial Only Watch auction set to take place this November, watch maisons are once again creating unique timepieces to be auctioned off in aid of research into Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The 50 special timepieces will be touring the world, with a stop at Singapore, before reaching Geneva for the big event. Here are a few highlights from this year’s lots.
The Only Watch You Need

BREGUET

Breguet brings back the legendary Type 20 pilot chronograph, resurrected with a striking faithfulness to its historical predecessor. The Type 20 Only Watch 2019 is enclosed in a recreated 38.3mm steel case that preserves the unique curved horns with lateral bevel and pear-shaped crown that was iconic of the first generation models. The 2019 reissue comes with the addition of a bidirectional bezel in fluted steel for greater accuracy on a bronze-coloured dial. Mechanically the timepiece is a faithful recreation powered by the Valjoux 235 13 lignes, an enhanced version of its 1950s predecessor fitted on a restored movement blank of the original manual wound column-wheel chronograph.
