1. Plymouth Yarn Encore Worsted medium (worsted) weight acrylic/wool yarn (31/2 oz/200 yds/100g per ball):
5 balls #6004 shamrock heather 3 balls #0146 winter white
2 balls each #0215 yellow, #0174 cranberry and #0180 mauve
2. Size J/10/6mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
GAUGE
Rnds 1–4 = 41/2 inches; square = 91/2 inches
PATTERN NOTES
Make 30 Squares, 15 of each color combination. Use yellow for all Centers. Make 15 with mauve Flowers and cranberry Borders and 15 with cranberry Flowers and mauve Borders. Complete each Square through round 10, then join tog as indicated in round 11.
Weave in loose ends as work progresses.
Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.
Chain-3 at beginning of round counts as first double crochet unless otherwise stated.
SPECIAL STITCHES
Beginning double crochet color change (beg dc color change): Lp yarn around hook twice, insert hook in indicated st, yo, draw up a lp, [yo, draw through 2 lps on hook] twice.
Beginning double crochet cluster (beg dc cl): Ch 3, [yo, insert hook in next st, yo, draw up a lp, yo, draw through 2 lps on hook] 3 times (4 lps on hook), yo, draw through all 4 lps on hook.
Double crochet cluster (dc cl): [Yo, insert hook in next st, yo, draw up a lp, yo, draw through 2 lps on hook] 4 times (5 lps on hook), yo, draw through all 5 lps on hook.
Shell: 5 dc in indicated st or sp.
