“We are as much storytellers as designers, and believe that design inspires and animates the user through colour, movement and touch,” explains Lulie Fisher of the team that drives her small, eponymous interior design studio. Since its foundation in 2016, the studio has taken on an eclectic mix of projects including a theatre, an arts centre, a school, recording studios, hotels, spas, private residences and a children’s library. Fisher’s approach of creating an inspiring and engaging environment “through colour, movement and touch” is especially apparent in the recently opened Vida Hotel, Emirates Hills. Lulie Fisher Design Studio was commissioned by Emaar to design the hotel’s main public areas, including the lobby spaces, lounge areas, coffee bar, meeting suites and Origins restaurant. Shortlisted for a 2019 Commercial Interior Design (CID) Award, the design is characterised by a distinct sensitivity to the power of colour, a keen understanding of the practical functions of the space and a marked attention to textural detail.
