Start the New Year with saturated, colourful hues that bring depth and dimension to any interior

Colour Fix
Colour! What a deep and mysterious language, the language of dreams,” said artist Paul Gaugin. This year is bringing the power and beauty of rich, luxurious colour to home furnishings, accessories and paint colours. From Ultra Violet, Pantone’s colour of the year, to Benjamin Moore’s 2018 Caliente selection and Jotun’s colours of the world, the industry is mad about colour.

The Pantone Colour of the Year, Ultra Violet, speaks to this productive tension that reflects the feelings in the cultural and social realms that surround us. Historically associated with royalty – as well as with mystery, luxury and creativity – purple is a combination of peaceful blue and feisty, passionate red.

“We are living in a time that requires inventiveness and imagination. It is this kind of creative inspiration that is indigenous to Pantone 18-3838 Ultra Violet, a blue-based purple that takes our awareness and potential to a higher level. From exploring new technologies and the greater galaxy, to artistic expression and spiritual reflection, the intuitive Ultra Violet lights the way to what is yet to come,” says Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of Pantone Colour Institute.
