Boss Lady: Pernia Qureshi

Fashion entrepreneur, style connoisseur, and Kuchipudi exponent, Pernia Qureshi is one busy woman. One of the most successful and influential figures in the Indian fashion scene, Pernia - the woman who brought Indian fashion to everyone from Los Angeles to Lucknow with just a click – represents the new Indian fashion movement: feminine, poised and refreshingly all pervading.

She launched Pernia’s Pop-Up Shop, India’s answer to Net-A-Porter, after brief stints with top fashion magazines in New York, as well as working with top-notch designers in India. Having been invited to Kochi as a speaker at the first-of-its-kind Indian Fashion Summit 2016, conducted by FWD, we caught up with the glamazon yet again to find out more about her latest venture Sketch To Reality, her favourite vacation staples, her beauty regimen, and her love for dance and fitness.

Tell us about Sketch To Reality. What inspired you to launch this new venture?

Our customers were often curious about our customisation services. They would be fascinated by costumes in a movie or even at a party and would request for something similar, but at the time we didn’t have the service up and running. We just figured there was a growing demand for it. As soon as we launched Sketch To Reality, we received quite a huge response with a lot of people e-mailing us and actually making use of the service.

Since its launch, have you noticed a change in India’s shopping experience? Is there a growing need for custom-made garments in the country?
