Growing up … I wanted to be a model. This dream was shelved when I got a white patch on my skin when in form two. It was diagnosed as vitiligo, an autoimmune disease where the body destroys the melanin-making cells. My skin would eventually turn white and I figured that with the skin discolouration, no advertising company would ever consider me.
