‘MY BABY BOY GAVE ME STRENGTH TO KEEP GOING'

Amanda wondered if she would ever find joy again after her daughter Charlotte died in unimaginable circumstances
‘MY BABY BOY GAVE ME STRENGTH TO KEEP GOING'

Staring at her four children, tears well up in Amanda Furner’s eyes. Five months ago, she lost her “bright and bubbly” little girl, after her rented SUV rolled back on top of her daughter as she lunged to save her.

“There’s an empty space in everyone’s hearts since she left us,” says the Melbourne mum, gazing down at the beautiful baby boy she gave birth to just weeks after Charlotte’s death.

“Losing Charlotte has been the most difficult and painful time of my entire life. But having my kids and giving birth to my new baby boy Chase has given me the strength to keep going.

“It was amazing to see Chase’s face for the first time. He is such a beautiful baby. In a time of such sadness, he has bought some joy into my life. He means so much to me, as do all my children. He’s a happy baby and is always smiling, which warms my heart.

“I can see Charlotte in his eyes when I look at him. I know Charlotte would have loved to meet her baby brother, but I know she’ll always be here for him in spirit.”

TRAGIC NIGHTMARE

Amanda was heavily pregnant with Chase on that terrible afternoon in October last year when her world fell apart.

“It was just a normal day, like any other,” Amanda tells Woman’s Day.
