To keep a clear head, recognize you can never get everything done, but you are in control of selecting the right things to do. Steel yourself to say no, so you don’t bite off more than you can chew, and practice framing your polite refusals with this three-point rule: ‘No, because, but.’ For example, ‘No, I can’t bake muffins for the church fête on Sunday because I’m making cupcakes for school, but I will make a few extra for you.’
