How can we help?
Q My daughter is applying for university next year. Neither I nor my husband went and we have no idea how to help her with the application forms or even what to suggest she should do to look good. She keeps telling us what other parents are doing. I don’t want her to fail because of us. Shah, London
A The short answer is she won’t! You sound like a very caring parent and that’s the foundation for all children’s success. There are lots of people who know about applying and there are resources you and your daughter can tap into. Her school will know the ropes, as they help and advise their students every year. Make an appointment with the careers teacher and ask their advice. You can do this with your daughter or alone if you prefer. You’ll know some of her friends’ parents so why not ask them too? I’m sure they’d be happy to tell you what their children are doing and point you in the right direction. There will also be a wealth of information on the internet, so take a look there. Good luck to her!
