Why go?

The charmingly small city 90 miles north of Los Angeles features Spanish-style architecture and rolling hills, waving palm trees, sugar-sand beaches, and boats by the harbor.

1 Explore the sights

Although State Street runs through different sections of Santa Barbara, the roadway is classed as the heart of the city. Shaded by palm trees and decorated with flowers, it has a tropical feel and is perfect for an afternoon stroll. Stores, restaurants, and bars line the street with attractions including the Santa Barbara Museum of Art and the Granada Theatre.

2 Life’s a beach

With miles of perfect sand, lots of variety, and a Mediterranean vibe, Santa Barbara’s beaches are reason enough to visit. It's largest and most popular is East Beach – a long, sandy stretch with volleyball nets, play area, and a snack bar. For great views, head to Shoreline Park. If you want to swim or surf, visit Arroyo Burro Beach.
