I ‘ve never liked chillies. That is until about a month ago when I made a seafood pasta that called for one chilli in it.
I’d never bought one of these spices before and was astonished that the per kilo price was close to $70, fortunately, one chilli doesn’t weigh very much. Even so, I decided it was time to start growing chillies myself.
British celebrity chef Jamie Oliver says he nibbles a chilli every morning and believes they contain a chemical that is similar to morphine which makes him feel excellent. Science does dispute this, saying there’s no evidence chillies can alter your mood, but I wonder... A truly fabulous seafood pasta can, no questions asked, although it may be the wine you drink with it that actually does that.
Anyway, there’s still time for me to plant a chilli this season and figure out what it needs to sustain my pasta habit.
