Sometime early this century, I edited the Avocado Growers’ Association magazine. Don’t ask me why. I certainly didn’t have a passion for growing avocados. More likely I had a passion for shoes which required some income to support.
Conscientious little soul that I was, I actually moved to Tauranga for the job (even though I could have done it from my home in the Bay of Islands) and immersed myself in the avocado industry.
At the risk of offending every avocado grower in the country, I confess that I found avocados to be arguably the most boring little fruit in the universe.
However, I do like to eat them and I’ve been pestering the Partner for the past few years to put a couple of trees in.
