Try these simple techniques to help you handle some of life’s most common issues.
Self-help books can be hit and miss. Sometimes a compassionate author can lift your mood while you’re reading, but the actual advice given is lacklustre. Others may be written in a style that drives you mad but are so full of useful suggestions, you’re willing to read on regardless. Cut the Crap and Feel Amazing by Ailsa Frank (Hay House, £10.99) is one such book. Written in a very American tone, it doesn’t just capitalise the word AMAZING, it uses it as much as 13 times a page. That said, it’s packed with simple ways to beat stress, meet your goals and generally feel good. Here are a few of our favourite tips from the book.
GET HAPPY
Smile technique: If you’d like to feel ‘amazing’ more of the time, the answer is surprisingly simple. Just smile more. Whether you’re cleaning your teeth, walking round the supermarket or facing your biggest fear, smiling makes you feel better. Period. What’s more, it helps you become more solution-focused.
