ANYONE WHO HAS ever visited Scotland will know that it holds a multitude of tourist attractions, from stunning natural wonders, such as the majestic Highlands or the astonishing Great Glen, to the historic, man-made creations of Edinburgh and Glasgow. So, winning VisitScotland’s ‘Best Tourist Attraction’ award for 11 consecutive years (2006-16) and TripAdvisor’s ‘Best Attraction in UK’ (2015) represents quite an achievement for a static, decommissioned, mid-20th century former holiday-home, better known as the Royal Yacht Britannia. Visitor numbers are in excess of 300,000, per annum, and that is endorsement of the yacht’s continuing fascination.
