Jonathan Tabisaura is an entrepreneur by profession. When he’s not busy running these companies, Tabisaura can be found traveling or diving underwater to take beautiful photographs of landscapes, birds, and underwater creatures, among others. Photography is something this 40-something executive is very passionate about, spending money, time, and effort to perfect his craft.

Speed sat down with Tabisaura one Monday afternoon to talk about his profession and passion, and how he is able to balance and fuse his work and hobby.

Living the dream

Becoming an entrepreneur and having his own business has always been Tabisaura’s dream, even as a child. “I’m not a guy who can work 9 to 5 in the office. Gusto ko nasa labas. I want to talk to people,” says Tabisaura.

However, like with most of us, he did not have an easy straight path to his dream. A marketing graduate, Tabisaura first worked as a medical representative for GlaxoSmithKline then joined Globe Telecom as a Customer Service Officer.

His next job, where he would also stay for almost ten years, would be with Siemens, Inc.–Health Sector where he started as an account manager and moved up to product manager and then as business development manager. After Siemens, Tabisaura decided to transfer to competitor company Philips. He would stay there for two years before jumping the gun and joining his brother in running Urban Gadgets in 2016.
