Apple’s more affordable iPhone still boasts many of the features of it pricier stablemates.

All About the iPhone Xr

Let’s face it, there’s no such thing as a cheap iPhone but of the new range, the iPhone Xr is the most affordable. It’s also the most colourful, with six fruity flavours on offer. There’s the usual white and black models but if you want something a little more dazzling, you can try yellow, blue or coral. There’s also a (PRODUCT)RED iPhone; Apple makes a donation to the fight against AIDS for every red iPhone sold.

The screen on the iPhone Xr is an LCD and like the more expensive 2018 iPhones, it extends from edge to edge without a bezel or a Home button. It even has its own cool new name: the Liquid Retina display. From corner to corner it measures 6.1 inches, and has a resolution of 1792 x 828, with 1.4 million pixels. It doesn’t have 3D Touch but instead boasts Haptic Touch, a similar feature that’s like the deep touch on the trackpad used in the MacBook Pro. Like the rest of the 2018 iPhone range, the Xr has Face ID, so you wake your phone from sleep just by looking at the screen.
