What Is Audio Tech?

From giant mixing consoles at a concert to the tiny IEMs in your backpack, all of it falls under the broad umbrella of audio technology.

You must have seen an eastern martial arts movie (or even multiple western ones) where the protagonist is taught how to fight by blindfolding him or her and then fighting only by sound. On the other hand, you must have heard the tales of musical maestros who could make it rain or set things on fire with the sheer power of music.

While we cannot imagine why you would want to do those things now, but if you did, we’re pretty sure it would be much easier for you to achieve them thanks to the audio technology at your disposal today. From being created on an instrument (or a console) to being consumed over speakers of a hundred different kinds, the advancements in audio technology have made the world of audio richer than it ever was.

But what does the world of audio technology mean to us? There’s industrial grade equipment used in the production of audio and there’s equipment used for the consumption of audio. The audio that lies on the consumption side is what we call personal audio and is of most interest to us. But to know how we got here, let’s start with a short trip down history.
