SPURS DIGEST - WELCOME CARLOS!

Last week, we announced the signing of striker Carlos Vinicius on a season-long loan from Benfica.
SPURS DIGEST - WELCOME CARLOS!

The 25-year-old – who will wear our number 45 shirt – was joint top goalscorer in Portugal’s Primeira Liga last season with 18 goals in 32 matches. He finished the campaign with 24 goals and 13 assists in 46 appearances in all competitions.

Born in Jesus das Selvas, Maranhao, Brazil, Carlos spent his youth days at Goias, Santos, Desportivo Brasil and Palmeiras.

He moved to Caldense, where he made his senior debut in March, 2017, and then to Gremio Anapolis before switching from Brazil to Portugal and exploding onto the scene at LigaPro side Real Sporte Club. Carlos scored 20 goals and claimed five assists in 33 appearances for Real in 2017/18, prompting a move to Italy and Napoli in January, 2018.

Loan spells followed at Rio Ave back in Portugal’s top flight and Monaco in Ligue 1 before his move to Benfica in July, 2019. As well as taking top goalscoring honours in 2019/20, Carlos appeared five times in the Champions League, scoring in a 2-2 draw at RB Leipzig, and helped the Eagles lift the Portuguese Super Cup.

Look out for an exclusive interview with our new signing in the next issue of our matchday programme against LASK.

Heung-Min Son has won our first Goal of the Month vote for 2020/21.
