Our Under-23s’ recent good run of form was dented as we conceded a goal in each half to go down 2-0 at Manchester City in the Premier League 2 last Sunday.
Always chasing the game after Ben Knight curled in a sixth-minute opener, we went close on a couple of occasions, notably through Rodel Richards just before the break, but our fate was sealed when Lewis Fiorini bagged City’s second with 10 minutes to go.
Our regular center-back pairing of Luis Binks and Malachi Fagan-Walcott – impressive this season in various different age brackets – was broken up for the match at City’s Academy training ground following the latter’s dismissal in our previous match against Liverpool and consequent suspension. In his place was Japhet Tanganga, making his second appearance of the season at this level, having enjoyed the chance to work with our first team for much of the campaign.

OBITUARY – JOHNNIE HILLS
We were saddened to hear of the passing of John ‘Johnnie’ Hills, a defender who spent 11 years at the Club as an amateur and professional between 1950-61. He passed away at home in Brussels, Belgium, on Friday, 26 November, aged 87.
