Livingstone's been Bubble wrapped for a leader's role
TO most people’s surprise, including, one suspects, his own, Liam Livingstone is a senior cricketer.
Paul Edwards

At the venerable age of 27 he suddenly finds himself surrounded in the dressing room at Old Trafford by young bucks like 19-year-old George Balderson. “He’s not a shy boy, I can tell you that,” observes Livingstone with all the time-served savvy of the old pro.

Yet there is enormous fondness behind the wry comment. It is only five years since Livingstone made his own Lancashire debut. He well remembers what it was like to be where players like Balderson and Tom Hartley are now. He wants to help them make the most of opportunities they may not yet fully understand.

And that is where Livingstone’s white-ball cricket will come in useful. Having played in both the IPL and Pakistan Super League he is well placed to advise the younger members of the Lancashire squad about the skills and approaches being perfected by the world’s best cricketers.
