Hostile Bumrah Has Passed His Test, Says Kohli

Virat Kohli has hailed the impact of Test cricket on Jasprit Bumrah after his outstanding display in India’s World Cup opener against South Africa at the Ageas Bowl on Wednesday.

Bumrah is currently No.1 in the ICC ODI bowling rankings – and it was easy to see why on the south coast. The Ahmedabad-born quick has emerged as one of the world cricket’s most devastating performers across all three formats over the past 12 months.

Kohli was quick to acknowledge just how important the Test match game has been in the 25-year-old’s development.

“Success in Test cricket is always something that gives you immense satisfaction,” said the Indian skipper.

“And for Bumrah it’s been a difference in his mindset. He’s now sure of what he wants to do. The way he’s bowling right now, it’s so, so good to see because batsmen are literally clueless against him and he’s rushing people.
