Fawcett took 5-20 as his team rounded off their first league triumph since 1980 with victory at Wimbledon, having secured the title the previous week in front of 300 people at home against Banstead.
And after enduring a difficult few seasons in which they only narrowly escaped relegation, the spinner says it was the survival momentum they took with them into year’s campaign that was pivotal in engineering the turnaround.
“The last three seasons we’ve just about stayed up on the last day!” he said.
“We didn’t actually win a game until July last year and we all thought we would go down.
“There’s been no real change of personnel this season though and we’ve kept the same team of players.
“I think we just took confidence forward from our wins at the end of last season and confidence from winning every single week this year.
“Everyone’s been performing well and we always train as much as we can during the week.
