1981Topps Baseball cards aren’t all that memorable. It’s still a landmark release in its own right as the season saw a major change for the hobby landscape. After decades of essentially being the only mainstream option for collectors, both Donruss and Fleer landed MLB licenses and began producing cards. For Topps, it was largely business as usual, at least with its flagship release. The biggest change from a production standpoint wouldn’t come until later in the year with the release of the first Topps Traded box set.
