Simulated game is a variant of shooting that has experienced rapid growth in recent years, and has proven its potential in the market, many estates and farms will be holding their own particular take on this popular style of shoot. I remember one particular well-known individual within our industry saying: “everybody’s putting on sim game now, all you need is a hedgerow and a trap and away you go”! And what better time for established proprietors to advertise their wares?
For sure, the levels of refinement provided are far and wide, and this will be reflected in the price, from self-catering shoots with thousands of clays to the more refined, full hospitality experience, with branded caps, bottles of gin... and thousands of clays! As with most shooting-orientated outings, one’s desire is dictated firstly by cost and secondly by location, the latter often having an effect on the former.
However, it could be a good time to focus more on value and actual requirements. I believe all sim days have the potential to hold as much magic as their live quarry counterparts, guaranteeing you leave with a smile. Of course, the idea of whacking loads of clays, drive after drive, while entertaining the etiquette of a formal shoot day, could, for some, be deemed as way off the mark. It is, however, not all about volume but the presentation of said targets.
