Ferrell blocking out noise
Clelin Ferrell proved to be a stand-up player throughout his rookie season, even as a multitude of critics quickly tried to bury him as a first-round bust. He wasn’t, of course. Not even close. But, with a tip of the cap to Chappelle’s Show, haters gonna hate.

Even still, as his inaugural trip around the NFL came to an end Ferrell stood in front of his locker and told reporters he would be a completely different player in 2020.

If the early portion of training camp is any indication, the fourth overall pick in 2019 is ready to do just that.

“He’s understanding the little details a lot better in our defense and that’s what you are looking for in a second-year player,” defensive coordinator Paul Guenther said. “I always tell the players, ‘First year you learn, second year you better show me something and third year if you don’t we got to move on.’ And Clelin is right on that line where he’s really showing that he understands the little details in our defense in his second year. He’s going to progress, he’s come back physically great and now he’s learning the defense a lot better in his second year.”
