BEATING THE HEAT ON YOUR RUNS

Three years after its inception, homegrown label PURPOSE – a specialist in performance wear that is specifically made for the heat and humidity of Southeast Asia – is expanding its range to include PURPOSE for Running. Founder of PURPOSE Noor Ashikin Aziz, 49, tells us more.

Q: How did PURPOSE come about?

I picked up cycling in my mid-20s and got back into running in my mid-30s. Then I started participating in running and cycling races, before going into duathlons and triathlons. Racing in Singapore, or anywhere else in Southeast Asia can get unbearably hot so I was looking around for a tri-suit or cycling kit that could help to keep me cooler. I realised there weren’t any catered for our tropical weather, so I decided to start PURPOSE and develop our own products.

Q: What is the fabric innovation behind PURPOSE?

The signature feature of PURPOSE products is the use of fabric mesh technology. PURPOSE tri suits and cycling jerseys are constructed with a combination of different technical mesh fabric made of different weaves of polymers and elastane that provides the best heat dissipation and air flow-through capability.
